Art piece by the sculptor Irmtraud Ohme

In the last decade of the GDR, her work provided the impetus for the arts and crafts to turn to free art. With her work in international steel symposia, Irmtraud Ohme contributed to an atmosphere of departure that was combined with the emergence of steel sculpture from the privacy of the studio into a lively public sphere. The sculpture group "Topoi: Place of Collection/ Place of Consecration/ Place of Friendly Remembrance" from the estate of the important German sculptor can now be seen on the west side of the Leopoldina grounds.
